Easter Egg Swap

Reading Carla's blog reminded me I hadn't shared pictures of the eggs I made for the Thimble Prims swap.

Paper mache eggs covered with vintage paper,

seam binding, sequins and a feather or two.

A bit of vintage lace and button,

the opening is surrounded by tinted tinsel.

Tucked inside is a pretty little lady

I made 8 eggs total each one little different. My only concern is that they are a bit delicate..oh I hope they make it ok. In a few weeks I should have my swapped eggs to share... or maybe a returned box of scrambled eggs :-O

Found: birdcage tutorial to share

I was wondering about how to make birdcages yesterday (seriously... how does the mind wander to that anyway). I attempted to make one on my own from scratch but was so bad I won't even share it with you. "Off to the internets" I scoured and came across this easy peasy tute by Bird From A Wire. The only diversion I took was to use an empty tuna can as my base, other than that her tutorial is as clear as you can get. The little gal inside would not have been my first choice, it was a left over piece from some other project that didn't fair so well, but she was just hanging out there on the counter so I stuck her in the cage...poor thing.

It was a nice daily diversion from my studio, which is in shambles and needs a really good cleaning out. Maybe my desire to spend more than just an hour in there will come along soon to prod me along

Happy Little Surprises

Sometimes I find living in the midwest...well...boring, but every once when you least expect it (like when you have a little excursion through Cincinnati while between games for a boys soccer tournament) you stumble across something like this.

A most unusual house! Bob said he believes it's owned by a University of Cincinnati professor who, from time to time, allows student architects to add a 'little more'.

Sorry for the low resolution pics, camera phones can only do so much. This house was beyond unique, beyond unusual, it had to be admired for being so 'out there' especially out here in the conservative midwest.

It's raining, it's pouring

the sump pump seems to be working.. OK so that isn't the way the ditty goes.

This picture pretty much puts my day in perspective.

Home all day trying to get ever so slightly ahead of the clutter, though I'm pretty sure it's an endless battle with both kids home making new messes in whatever room I'm not in.

So it goes I guess...we are all anxiously awaiting some warm, dry, spring-like days.
