Patriotic Pinwheels

Wanted to share an easy peasy project... directions are HERE

I used We R Memory Keepers 6x6 paper with a brad for the center.

To embellish these further I used double sided tape and Sparkle N Sprinkle glitters ( Liberty & Freedom) on all four sides...sparkle on!!

Ahh Boys

Mom of the Year is probably not an award I will earn this year.  This stoic figure below kept insisting his wrist was fine after taking a fall at the roller rink Tuesday evening.  This mom just went with it, until Friday when, by chance, I needed to cover the kids in sunscreen for an all day outdoor event at school.  When I went to rub the lotion into his arm he flinched (he will deny that) and I thought..hmmm... that's not good.

A doctors visit, an xray, and a trip to the after hours ortho clinic we learn he has a buckle fracture and needs a cast for 4 weeks.  He is really fine with it, though I don't think it has crossed his mind yet that the pool opens in this weekend.

Celebrating Summer Blog Hop

Beach greetings to you!  As you may know I have had sand and sun on the brain for a few weeks now which is perfect because today it's time for our Celebrating Summer Blog Hop.  If you arrived via Barbara's blog then you are on the correct sandy path, if you have not been hopping along with us before than you can start back at the Sparkle and Sprinkle blog to learn about the five fun prizes being given away.

Sparkle N Sprinkle's Celebrate Summer Blog Hop

For my project I wanted to create some embossed polymer clay jewelry.  Rather than stamping into raw clay this time I rolled, cut, and baked a piece of polymer then once it cooled it was stamped and embossed with detail black powder.  The saying " The voice of the sea, speaks to the soul"  is part of a stamp set called Ocean Treasures.  After the embossing is finished,  the polymer clay can be drilled at the top to make a hole for the bail and again at the bottom to hang a little shell.

directions are here
Be sure to leave a comment...it's kind of like digging in the sand, every once in a while you will unearth a treasure...or in this case maybe dig up a prize.  Next you will want to hop over to Karalee's fantastic blog, to see how she is Celebrating Summer.

Sweet Bead Button Swap (Blog Hop)

In March, Cindy at Sweet Bead Studio offered to host a Button Swap/Blog Hop.  I couldn't resist joining in considering the mounds of buttons I have collected and those I've made.

The handmade polymer clay buttons received from Billi were so wonderfully whimsical I really had to think of a fun way to show them off.

My mind kept coming back to a circus theme but I couldn't quite get focused on what I wanted to make. On Thursday kismet intervened when Debbie gave me a Cinch machine, perfect for binding journals or notebooks.

I spent the rest of the day stamping, glittering, and sewing away on this altered bingo card. Billi's buttons are now the highlight of this altered art sketchbook cover.
Thanks so much for stopping by and thank you Cindy for hosting.

Below is a list of all the participants in alphabetical order, I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone else created!

(that's me!!) Angie Blasingame and Billi R.S. Rothove
Kim Roberts and Partner unable to participate at this time.
Pam Ferarri and Stefanie Teufel (will share their reveal on a later date)

Button Swap Preview

Just popping in to share a picture of the buttons that arrived back in April for the swap.  I'm partnered with a wonderful gal, Billi R.S. Rothove, her blog is called Artist at Work.  An artist Billi certainly is, she works with many mediums including polymer clay and paper batik.  The buttons she sent were the very colorful, in a style I would call 'caned' though I'm not sure if that is the right term.  What I love about swaps is they usually push you out of your comfort zone, I did manage to find a way to blend my vintage style of altered art with these beauties.  I will leave it up to y'all to tell me if I pulled it off....on Sunday.

(I included a hint in the picture)

Beach Dream'n

In 2.5 weeks my kiddos will be out of school. The unusually warm winter weather with no snow days are playing a part in the early start of summer vacation.  Ms. Maria has been asking questions like...are we going on vacation..or..can we go the beach this year?  Unfortunately Bob's IT job revolves around a school schedule as well and that means lots of summer projects to complete, hence no vaca away.  This year I am with Maria, dreaming of time at the beach with my toes in the sand. Maybe if I pack my suitcase it will become a reality.
This little altered suitcase was made using Sparkle N Sprinkle stamps and embossing powder.  To see the directions or links for the stamp set just click HERE
