Ahh Boys

Mom of the Year is probably not an award I will earn this year.  This stoic figure below kept insisting his wrist was fine after taking a fall at the roller rink Tuesday evening.  This mom just went with it, until Friday when, by chance, I needed to cover the kids in sunscreen for an all day outdoor event at school.  When I went to rub the lotion into his arm he flinched (he will deny that) and I thought..hmmm... that's not good.

A doctors visit, an xray, and a trip to the after hours ortho clinic we learn he has a buckle fracture and needs a cast for 4 weeks.  He is really fine with it, though I don't think it has crossed his mind yet that the pool opens in this weekend.

Angie don't blame yourself. This happens to many of us moms, myself included. The good thing is you got it taken care of, and he got a cool cast.

As for mom of the year, I can remember a few times where I was late picking up my kids, and there were a couple times I completely forgot to pick them up. I don't think there are any perfect moms out there, but the good thing is our kids still love us.

Ah the joys and guilts of motherhood. Mostly self imposed guilt. You are a wonderful mother and who would have had any idea that your sweet son had a break if he wasn't complaining? Now he may start complying about not getting to swim. Luckily it is still very early summer and he will be able to enjoy most of it cast free! Take care. hugs, Pam
Maybe you can hit Burlington next month!

Aw...poor guy. Why do kids always break things in the summer time!!

I'll be praying for a quick healing and you are a great mom. I made my kids rub on their own sunscreen!! : )

Oh Angie, what a bummer. At least the summer is just starting and Robert will out of that cast in no time flat.

Been there, done that!

Long story, but one week after a skateboard accident, raced my 15 yo to the dr. He had shattered his ankle and needed surgery complete with permanent stainless pins! Didn't complain for an entire week! Try to explain that guilty moment of discovery with the surgeon!

Hugs, mom of the year, NOT!

It is amazing how a child can act like nothing is wrong when it is serious but is "dying" over a paper cut(: The same thing happened to my daughter at the skating rink and when I took her in after 5 days I felt awful when the doctor looked at me and said, "This happened when?" Your a great mom - I can tell by your next two posts!!
