Apple Picking 2009

It was back to A & M Farms today. It's an hour drive from home but it's worth every scenic minute. It was an incredible gorgeous day with blue skies, big white puffy clouds, and about 65 degrees.

My official taste tester for the day...Mr. Robert. He insisted on sampling one of each variety we picked this year. He ate part of a Law Rome, Jonathon, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Winesap and Fuji. (Yes he did get a belly ache)

Miss Maria is more of a picker than an eater, but she was my winner of the unoffical "ham it up for the picture" award

The kids and Bob worked so hard this year, picking 60 pounds of apples overall. We keep a one crisper drawer full of eating apples and one for baking. Over half of what we pick we give out to friends, family, and to the kids school. Before we left we stopped in the apple house shop for some fresh pressed apple cider and a caramel apple.

Here is one last quick snapshot under the tent o' pumpkins.

Looks like a great time. we used to go apple & pumpkin picking when my children were young. Afterwards we would get caramel apples too ~ they dipped them and we loaded on toppings...they were sold by the pound!
Thanks for the memories!
